The system can detect large gatherings of people, make ‘heat maps’ and send notifications on emergencies. It increases students’ safety in the campus and reduces the risk of accidents.

Tracking university assets

Within the campus territory there are many assets that are considered material values. The room positioning system can control their location and movement around the area. Every such object is equipped with a beacon that identifies the asset location and makes it possible to check its presence within the specified area. Moreover, using this platform, one can build routes to objects.


Technologies for system implementation

In order to make the campus navigation system effectively search the necessary objects, the following technologies can be applied:

  • Wi-Fi – functions by defining the user’s coordinates using Wi-Fi points. The MAC-address and the RSSI level are used for detecting the location, they allow positioning without the necessity to install additional equipment.
  • Bluetooth – defines location by means of radio waves. In recent years geolocation has been carried out using the BLE standard that is characterized by smaller energy consumption, low implementation costs and a wide active range (up to 100 m).
  • UWB – uses short impulses with a high bandwidth. UWB signals differ in high protection from interference, stable connection, compatibility with any devices that use the radio frequency spectrum.
