At Navigine, we believe that high-precision tracking is only as good as the tools used to manage and analyze it. This January, our engineering team has been hard at work streamlining the platform's interface and expanding how our system handles external data.
Whether you are managing a large-scale warehouse or a complex office environment, these updates are designed to make your workflow faster and more flexible.
Unifying RTLS Data Integration via Hybrid Tracking Support
The most significant architectural update this month is the introduction of a specialized mode for external and mobile devices within our tracking engine. This feature fundamentally changes how our platform handles RTLS data integration by allowing the system to ingest coordinates that have already been calculated by third-party algorithms.
- Vendor Flexibility: By setting the vendorName to external or mobile, devices bypass standard navigation smoothing to feed positions directly into the output queue.
- Measurement Support: The system now supports external XY coordinates (Type 400) and external Latitude/Longitude coordinates (Type 401).
- Unified Pipeline: Even with external positioning, devices remain fully integrated into Navigine’s core logic for zone notifications and coordinate thinning.
Why it matters: Most large-scale facilities use a mix of hardware. This update eliminates "data silos" by allowing you to view external GPS data and Navigine’s indoor BLE/UWB data in one single interface, providing total visibility across your entire supply chain.
While our system has long been a leader in RSSI-based methods for asset tracking, this new update allows for even greater flexibility by incorporating pre-calculated external coordinates alongside traditional BLE or UWB signals.
Enhancing Analytics Through Automated RTLS Data Integration
A robust asset tracking system is only as effective as the insights it generates. We have expanded our reporting suite to provide deeper visibility into operational workflows.
- "Day in the Life" Report: A new reporting tool that uses global coordinates to visualize the movement patterns and "working day picture" of tracked objects.
- Scheduled Reporting: Users can now automate the delivery of data exports, ensuring stakeholders receive critical updates without manual intervention.
- Multi-selector Filters: New multi-selection tools in the reporting tab allow for faster data filtering across multiple groups and objects simultaneously.
Why it matters: Manual reporting is a bottleneck. By automating "Day in the Life" insights, managers can identify bottlenecks in staff movement or equipment usage instantly, turning raw data into actionable productivity gains.
Scaling RTLS Data Integration
To support the high data throughput required by modern RTLS environments, we have optimized our backend infrastructure.
- Google Cloud Deployment: Our latest qttracker updates are now fully deployed on Google Cloud, offering improved reliability for our global partners.
- Database Optimization: We have updated and standardized indices on our statistics tables, significantly increasing the speed of report generation and data writing.
- Image Overlays: A new API entity for "image overlays" has been added to support more complex, layered map visualizations.
Why it matters: System lag can lead to missed notifications. These infrastructure optimizations ensure that even as you scale from 100 to 10,000 devices, your data processing remains near-instantaneous and your reports generate in seconds.
UX Upgrades for Complex RTLS Data Integration Projects
Managing an indoor positioning system involving thousands of devices requires an interface that stays out of the worker's way. Our January updates include several UI improvements based on user feedback.
- Fixed Table Headers: Navigation tables now feature pinned headers and static numbering, keeping context clear during long-scroll data reviews.
- Command Tooltips: To prevent errors, the "Send Message" button remains disabled until a command and object are selected, with a helpful tooltip explaining why.
- Search Persistence: Search results in the tracking front-end are no longer lost after editing or creating a new element, maintaining your workflow momentum.
- Version Safety: The client-side version editor has been redesigned to remove accidental deletion risks for XML files.
Why it matters: Human error is the leading cause of system downtime. By adding tooltips, fixed headers, and "save state" search bars, we reduce the cognitive load on your operators, making the system more intuitive and reducing the need for extensive training.
Managing an indoor navigation system requires precision; our new fixed table headers and improved search persistence ensure that administrators can manage thousands of devices without friction.
